Bridgestone Aircraft Radial Tires to be Supplied for Airbus A350 XWB-Newest Structure Tire for Next-generation Passenger Airliner-

Tokyo (October 1, 2009) - Bridgestone Corporation announced today that it has been selected to supply tires for the Airbus A350 XWB (eXtra Wide Body).

The tires that Bridgestone will supply for the Airbus A350 XWB feature the advanced radial construction (RRR= Revolutionarily Reinforced Radial).

  1. Reduced fuel consumption and enhanced cost management
    1. The advanced radial construction with high elastic modulus/strength cords improves the lightness of the tires, resulting in greater fuel efficiency. Sensitivity to the environment is a key theme in the development of the A350 XWB, and these tires will contribute to that goal through reduced fuel consumption.
    2. The advanced radial construction will also result in higher abrasion resistance, allowing for more landings of the aircraft before tire replacement, thus contributing to better cost control while maintaining quality.

    Through the use of RRR construction with outstanding durability, these tires will further offer enhanced safety in comparison with those not featuring the RRR construction.

Bridgestone began to supply RRR tires for the Airbus A380 in October 2007.
