Decision from European Commission regarding Marine Hose
Tokyo (January 28, 2009) - Bridgestone Corporation (“BSJ”) confirms that, on January 28, it received a notice of decision from the European Commission with respect to the alleged international cartel of marine hose. The European Commission imposed a total fine of 58.5 million euros on BSJ and its British subsidiary, Bridgestone Industrial Ltd. (“BSIL”).
The European Commission has conducted its investigation involving BSJ and BSIL since May, 2007. BSJ and BSIL have received a Statement of Objections, and have sent the reply to the Statement of Objections to the Commission in June, 2008. We will take appropriate actions after examining the full text of the decision which will be sent to us later. We will also separately announce the impact on our financial results.
