
Bridgestone Officially Opens Aircraft Tire Retreading Plant in China
Tokyo (July 25, 2007) -- Bridgestone Aircraft Tire Company (China) Ltd., a subsidiary of Bridgestone Aircraft Tire Company (Hong Kong) Ltd., whose parent company, Bridgestone Corporation, held the official opening ceremony for a plant to retread aircraft tires onsite in Qingdao, China on July 12, 2007.
Demand for aircraft tires is increasing worldwide, particularly in China, where economic development has spurred rapid growth in the number of air travelers and aircrafts. Bridgestone aims to meet the needs of customers, notably China's various airlines, through the new plant conveniently situated in central China.
The Bridgestone group operates aircraft tire retreading plants in Tokyo, the United States, Belgium and Hong Kong, with the new plant in China marking the fifth worldwide. Bridgestone also produces new aircraft tires at its Kurume Plant and supplies these globally. Plans are in place to start production of new aircraft tires at the Tokyo Plant in the second half of 2008.
